You prob already seen her TVC in HK, China and Taiwan. But... I am not here to show off Cica's new title, but to show off my first editorial job. Yes... I took the picture, and there is my name on the page. Who said my home studio is useless? I have to thank Cica and Gemma for letting me have this opportunity. Keep them coming~ I will work for FREE! Ha....

Long time no been... Mongolian BBQ

If this is not the best Mongolian BBQ in Taiwan, it is certainly the oldest one. I think it has been in business over 30 years. They haven't changed the sign hanging on the wall. According to my parents, the cooks are still the same but just with a lot more white hairs now.














I am not sure if this is how they do it in Mongolia. But, this is the type of BBQ that cannot be found else in Taiwan. Bascially, its like buffet style, you pick your meats, and put on vegetables. On the other side you have all kind of sauces which you pour on top.














Then you line up on the side of the humongous pan, waiting for your food to be cooked. I am sure the pan can allows 4-6 chiefs cooking at the same time. I haven't been to this place for at least a good 15 years. I was happy that I brought Cica here. She recommends it, too oh!

By the way... don't forget to ask for 燒餅! It's the perfect match with the BBQ, and it's FREE! =D

CNY 2008 ~ 日月潭

This is the first time Cica spent CNY in Taiwan. Since we don't have many relatives, CNY in our family is quiet as usual. Our routine is 拜拜 and more 拜拜. We made record this year because on top of 拜拜 in 基隆, we went to another 2 temples in 除夕. That was "fun". Luckily we were able to pay a visit down Central Taiwan to visit some friends from my mom's side, which was quite different. On the way, we checked out 日月潭. I never knew it was that beautiful. Since the winter is very cold this year, there are a lot of 溼氣 and somehow it floats on the lake like clouds, 有點像在仙境似的, 那是一個漂亮啊!

Getting sick is no fun...

Getting sick is not a good sight. It is even worse when my wife gets sick in the hospital and have all kind of tubes running on her hand. 5 days of fever is nuts... I have never spent more than a day in a hospital. Now, I have a taste of it and I certainly would hate to see anyone in the hospital again unless they are having a baby or some sort.

Kite Runner

今年年初的一部好戲. The story takes place in the 70’s in Afghanistan。12歲的富家子阿米爾和僕人哈山情如兄弟，最愛一起放風箏和分享有趣的故事。然而，一宗可怕的暴力事件，卻令一對好友從此變成陌路人。不久，蘇聯入侵阿富汗，阿米爾隨父親逃往美國。20多年過去，阿米爾仍然被自己對哈山的罪疚感纏繞著，這時一通來自遠方的電話，令他決定冒險回到塔利班政權下的故鄉，勇敢面對自己的背叛和贖罪，為童年好友盡最後一點心力，卻發現了父親一個埋藏多年的秘密。
















這部片雖然有些慢，但多元化的情感元素卻讓它變的很有張力。忠誠，廉恥，仁愛 ，孝順，包容，勇敢，親情，友情， 愛情，貪婪，背叛，恐懼，政治，暴力，妒忌，自私，戰爭 … 還有許許多多。基本上，人一生中所能遭遇到的情感都包括在這短短的兩小時內。每次看完這纇的電影，心裡都會沉重許久。沉重的是人的世界盡是如此龐雜。但從另一個角度看，這些長年堆積錯綜複雜的情感卻能被濃縮在這電影裡，反而然我覺得，人的一生也不過如此。這樣的想法，另人對時空的概念變的有些錯亂。

這部戲，不止導演棒，演員出色，劇本對人性及宗教的揣摩還真不是蓋的！

劇中有一幕是阿米爾與父親坐卡車逃離阿富汗跨越邊境的場境。當每個人為了活下去，都不敢出聲屈服在蘇俄邊警的槍口下。阿米爾的父親，用正念勇敢的解救險被凌虐的同胞妻子。那不要命的伸張正義真不是一般人能做得到的。
















伊斯蘭教應該有“善有善報，惡有惡報“ 這麼一說。我想戀童症的惡魔，被彈弓打瞎並不是偶然。

這整部戲敘述是一個故事，但我更看出人類的社會是如何沙盤推演的向下發展。家庭的關念，父母的教育，可以孕育出截然不同的下一代。恐怖的是，人的一念之差卻可以在我們住的地球上帶來天堂與地獄。


















這真是一部不簡單的電影，希望看過的人能夠對世界的另一邊有更多的了解。也希望所有人能夠重視承傳的重要，把“好“的留給下一代。

烤肉店

I was watching 新聞挖挖哇 last night and they were interviewing this 烤肉達人. This dude has been in the industry for 10 years. Starting from a waiter and worked his way up to manager position in a falling 烤肉店. 他不管薪水的多少 (當時拿的是 27,000 NT) 他就苦心研究，將所有缺點改進。在烤肉店經營不下去的情況下，他花了 70 萬NT買下所有股份。開始自己的創業之路。他在食材上不斷的研究，從豬的每一個部位，到不同品種的豬，黑豬，白豬，甚至是各國的豬，美國豬，日本豬. He carefully choose the best ingredients to serve his customers. Moreover, he holds meeting with staff to invent different sauces and ways to cook the food. Now, he owns 6 shops and 開發銀行 is offering 400 million NT to buy 30% of the company’s share because they foresee its potential to grow to 40 to 60 shops across Taiwan. He refuses the offer simply because he is not ready yet. “There are still a lot of rooms to improve and he needs to develop a system where management can be well controlled”, he said. Currently, he is sharing 30% of the monthly profit with the employees and the employ turn over is almost zero for senior staff. He said “don’t ask how much you get paid, but ask yourself how much you can give in cuz eventually, your hard work will get paid off. 少說多做，這樣的理念希望當下人可以做為借鏡.

I went to this 烤肉店 the next day because I was eager to try after watching the interview. It was not cheap, 2,000 NT for 3 people and I think my expectation was too high. The service was so so… and food was not superb as I imagined. Over rated…

They do give out rebate tho, I think that is one of the way that keeps on attracting the customers to come back.
